Building Safe Communities: Art Workshop

Youth in Bridgeport participated in 2 hands-on art workshops where they used recycled materials to build sculptures of places where they felt safe in their neighborhood.Participants also used audio equipment to record stories or memories associated with their safe place.
Our goal is to have youth from diverse communities across Chicago co-create a multimedia art installation symbolizing their vision for a reclaimed safer Chicago. The installation will be showcased at Beyondmedia's annual Youth Summit on August 12, 2011 at Columbia College.
