Jóvenes en Acción, a program from the partnership of the Department of State, the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP), and various private sector representatives, World Learning and its U.S. community partners hosted sixty-five Mexican high school students ages 15-18 for a five-week educational exchange opportunity in the United States from July 9-August 11, 2011.

Main Program Goals:
-Promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and Mexico


-Empower participants to utilize their youth leadership and civic engagement skills to become positive forces for social change throughout Mexico


-Equip participants with the tools they will need to successfully implement tailor-made community service projects in their home towns


-Inform participants about how non-governmental organizations and youth leaders approach issues related to gangs, violence, substance abuse, and the culture of lawfulness in the United States


-Improve the English language and cross-cultural communication skills of Mexico’s next generation

Youth participants of Jóvenes en Acción that visited Chicago partnered with World Chicago, a non-profit organization that provides the local community with a unique opportunity to build business relationships and lasting friendships with visitors from around the world.
