Alternatives’ mission is to facilitate personal development, strengthen family relationships and enhance the community well being. Our programs and services use an asset-based model that focuses on enriching a youth’s life by building upon individual strengths within the context of the their family and community. We provide comprehensive, accessible and affordable programs that increase young peoples’ opportunities to succeed and grow as individuals and community members.
Teen Group, a Girl World Program located at Alternatives Inc., is comprised of young women aged 14 to 19 who support each other; learn about conflict resolution and leadership; explore female health issues and perform service with younger girls in the community. We also partner with an array of community partners including, but not limited to Females United for Action, the Young Women’s Action Team of Rogers Park and AquaMoon spoken word group.
