  • What’s the point of loving?

CoBra youth created these videos to explore diverse types of violence in different contexts. The scenes depict environmental, physical, familial, social, societal and psychological violence. All, in the view of the youth, boil down to one thing: a lack of love.

What would be the best way to fight something that bothers the majority of society? We would say that it is through well-founded expression and the will to change. The Chain of Change project - Corrente Brasileira de Mudança (CoBra) - is a way for us to express our opinions and beliefs, according to each one’s psychological and environmental reality. With the production of a video we will generate and facilitate new discussions on the theme of violence within different groups in the community and point to possible solutions or new ways of approaching the violence suffered and practiced in our midst.

Chain of Change is international! CoBra -- Corrente Brasileira de Mudança (Brazilian Chain of Change) -- has started in Gama, DF, outside of Brasília, the country's capital. A group of 10 youth from COSE (The Center for Socio-educational Orientation), a before- and after-school program serving 6-21 year-old students from the public school system, are gathering twice weekly to reflect on violence in their lives and create media to share their experiences and strategies for ending it.
